Jason Mager

“We are very happy to have Jason Mager as part of our team at Tri Fitness. He has a passion for triathlon and coaching other athletes to help them reach their potential. Jason will be leading some of our indoor Cycling Sessions this Fall and Winter and will also be helping with our Swim Clinics and Youth Triathlon Camps, as he has done in past years.

He is certified as both a USA Cycling Level 3 Coach and also a Swim Speed Secrets Coach (personally trained by Olympian, Sheila Taormina,) and is currently working towards completing both the USAT Level 1 coaching certification as well as the USMS Levels 1 & 2 coaching certifications prior to the start of the 2017 race season.

Jason tried his first triathlon 4 years ago at a local sprint race. His bike fell apart half-way through the race and he ended up running the remaining 5 miles of the bike course bare foot while pushing/carrying his bike. He eventually finished the race - with black, blistered and cut up feet, but also a smile - and was instantly hooked on the sport.

While mostly competing at the Sprint and Olympic distances he has had multiple overall podium finishes as well as Age Group wins. This past race season, Jason was the 2016 Niantic Bay Overall winner and also competed at the USAT Age Group Nationals in Omaha where he qualified for the 2017 Age Group World Championships in Rotterdam, at both the Sprint and Olympic distances. For 2017 he is very excited about trying a few races at the 70.3 distance.
